BUILD TOUR - On the Road

When I first met Rupa Marya I admired her fun nature and fierce activism it would be 8 months later before we would start to fall in love and then she invited me to accompany her band Rupa and the April Fishes for the BUILD Tour, a world tour of their third Studio Album.
The tour was  16 weeks and included  52 shows in over 9 countries. I was a farmer to go on the road and I decided to conduct a seed sharing event at every show. I gathered some educational materials and blank packets,  a few books and brought some seeds with me.  It was actually hundreds of thousands of seeds all organized and labeled in a suitcase that I would then set up at all the shows along with the merch that the band was selling.

I was conducting a seed sharing experience for those attending the shows. These seeds were not for sale, but to plant and learn how to then save seed from them. I handed out hundreds of informational sheets and charts from Seed Matters that I got from Matthew Dillion and spread rare heirlooms that Don Tipping from Seven Seeds and Ken Greene from Hudsen Valley Seed Library stocked me up with along with my own collection from the last 10 years.  It was an amazing collection that I put on display everynight with the hope that at least 1 person would be inspired enough to participate in a deeper way with the seeds and their food.

Between the venues we visited farmers and shared stories. When we hit Europe that the little suitcase started receiving so much enthusiasm and inquiry, heirloom treasures were shared and planted in gardens and farms. We travelled through the US, Canada, Mexico, France, Germany, Belgium, Netherlands, Austria and the Czech Republic. We crossed over 21 international borders, not stopped once for the seeds, hence I was then given the nickname seed Jedi. Amazing tour, incredible farms, beautiful people.

The seeds I still have from that journey are now needing to be planted out and shared. We plan to house them at our new site where we will share them with even more people and grow them out to begin the cycle again.

The gardener is the backbone of any state or country, by including natural materials to add supplements to your dirt. Disintegrating leaves and plant matter blended with your dirt will help your plants to become more advantageous and speedier.

How nice of you to share your treasured seeds to different countries. You did a great job educating people about the value of seeds and growing their own food. I hope one day, the whole world can benefit from your seeds and more farmers like you will be able to lend a bit of their time to share their farming knowledge, teach people the value of planting or how to plant seeds. It's time we go back to basics, learn organic farming so we can grow and eat our own healthy produced and have a sustainable food source.

It seems to me that this tour was really something unbelievable.
That was a wonderful idea - seed sharing so that everyone who's ineterested can have a try and grow something on their own.
Lots of luck and inspiration to you in your work!
